The Story

Rooted in the love of gardens, decorative arts, and tending, Toad Hall grew from Peter Cousineau’s lifelong belief that the way we care for our homes, gardens and gatherings can make everyday life more beautiful and meaningful.

Located at the gateway to the historic Middlebury Marbleworks in the ground level of an 1835 thick stone-walled building, Toad Hall Flowers is a flower, garden and home shop offering distinctive floral designs from our farm grown flowers, plants, vintage finds, and beautiful useful things chosen to help people live a slower, richer more connected life.

Toad Hall’s Flowers are grown on Peter’s farm just 12 minutes from the shop in Shoreham Vermont where there is also a Guest rental cottage among the gardens and bucolic atmosphere.

About Peter

A life-long gardener, collector, and designer, Peter Cousineau’s love of curating vignettes- be it with plants, collected items, or cut-flowers began as a child in far northern New York State’s St. Lawrence Valley and Adirondacks. This passion became his vocation in the horticulture world where he has worked on garden development, design and care across the U.S. and Europe, ultimately choosing to live and build his farm and business in the beautiful Champlain Valley of Vermont.

He now owns Toad Hall Flowers and The Four Pillars Farmstead and Guest Cottage where he lives happily ever after.
